Copyright / DMCA Policy

Our policy
TheoStack — a product of Lordhill Digital, LLC — respects the rights of authors, publishers, translators, and other rights-holders. Our curated library contains third-party works and material derived from them by AI, such as summaries, structured metadata, and extracted passages. Users may also upload their own documents to a private personal library. We respond expeditiously to valid notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512, and we terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
If you believe material available through TheoStack infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to enforce, send us a notice as described below.
How to file a takedown notice
To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your written notice must include all six of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed — or, if multiple works at a single site are covered by one notice, a representative list of them.
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing and that you want removed or disabled, with information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it — for example the URL, the document title as it appears in the library, and the relevant page or passage.
- Your contact information: name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
Please note that under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), a person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys’ fees. If you are unsure whether the use is infringing — for example, whether it is fair use or the work is in the public domain — you may wish to consult a lawyer first.
Designated agent
Send notices to our designated agent for claims of copyright infringement:
Preston Fischer
Designated Copyright Agent, Lordhill Digital, LLC (TheoStack)
Email: preston.fischer@theostack.com
Mailing address: on file with the U.S. Copyright Office.
Email is the fastest route and is sufficient for a valid notice. Notices sent to other addresses may be delayed.
What happens after we receive a notice
- We review the notice and, if it is complete and valid, expeditiously remove or disable access to the material identified.
- We notify the user who uploaded the material, where the material came from a user, and give them a copy of the notice — including the contact information you supplied — so they can respond.
- If the notice is incomplete, we may contact you for the missing element before acting.
- Removing material from the curated library also removes it from search and retrieval, so the assistant will stop drawing on it.
Counter-notice procedure
If your material was removed or disabled and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send our designated agent a written counter-notice containing all of the following, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3):
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed or disabled, and the location at which it appeared before it was removed or disabled.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, mailing address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located — or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which Lordhill Digital may be found — and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice or their agent.
If we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the person who filed the original notice and let them know we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days. We will restore it at the end of that window unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain you from engaging in infringing activity relating to the material.
Repeat infringers
We maintain a repeat-infringer policy. Users whose uploads are the subject of repeated valid takedown notices will, in appropriate circumstances, have their accounts terminated. We may also remove content, suspend an account, or terminate access at any time — with or without a formal notice — where we reasonably believe material infringes a third party’s rights or violates our Terms of Service. Terminated accounts lose access to the Service and to any content stored in them.
Your personal library
Files you upload to your personal library are private to your account and are not shared with other users. That does not exempt them from copyright law: you must have the right to use what you upload, and we handle notices concerning personal-library material the same way as any other. See our Terms of Service for what you may upload, and our Privacy Policy for how uploaded files are handled.
